Science-led. Impact-driven.
Able Care is the falls prevention platform for operators and clinicians who need objective, standardized falls risk screening across every site. Commercialized out of Imperial College London neuroscience research.
Our journey
Our two founders, Dr. Mike Mace and Dr. Paul Rinne, meet at Imperial College in London while completing their PhDs. They connect over a shared frustration: that functional health technology was stuck in the analog era — subjective, inconsistent, and disconnected from care workflows. They work together to begin designing the first iterations of a better technology for rehabilitation.
The first iteration of their idea goes to market. GripAble is a handheld sensor that measures grip strength and wrist range of motion. It connects to an app that allows patients to carry out upper limb neurorehabilitation by playing gamified activities.
GripAble is spun out of Imperial College London.
GripAble becomes the most widely distributed digital rehabilitation in the UK.
GripAble begins its expansion into the United States.
The team sets up a new brand — Able Care — to roll out new digital functional health products. It introduces Able Assess, a product that utilizes the same GripAble sensor to measure fall risk of individuals over 65.
